WMF 2026 Opens in Shanghai: Smart Technologies and a New Era for Furniture Surfaces
A major meeting point for furniture manufacturing technology
WMF 2026, an international meeting point for furniture manufacturing and woodworking technology, will take place from 5–8 September 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the fair will bring together smart manufacturing systems, wood and panel processing, custom furniture production, surface-finishing technologies, upholstery solutions, automation and production software. Under the theme “Connecting Global Markets with Smart Innovation,” the event will focus on efficiency, quality and flexibility in manufacturing.
A new approach from design to production
WMF 2026 is positioned as more than a machinery exhibition. Its “Where Design Meets Manufacturing” initiative aims to connect decisions made during the design process with real requirements on the factory floor.
Key areas expected across Halls 7.1 and 8.1 include:

New surfaces create new protection needs
Sensitive finishes, natural-looking panels, glossy and matte surfaces, and personalised products are becoming increasingly important in furniture manufacturing. As production quality rises, protecting those surfaces from the factory to the end user is becoming a critical part of the value chain.
