Global Architectural Films Industry News, Autumn 2026: New Finishes, Installer Training and Digital Product Passports
31 October 2026 | International Industry News
Three developments stand out for architectural films and surface protection: new interior decorative film collections, installer training and the European digital traceability framework. This article is based on original manufacturer announcements and public authority resources.
Avery Dennison introduces Rehlm™ Architectural Finishes — 2 September 2026
Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions announced Rehlm™ Architectural Finishes, a collection of patterned and textured decorative vinyl films intended to change the appearance of interior surfaces. It also announced a direct-to-installer e-commerce platform.
Decorative architectural finishes are not the same as clear TPU surface protection films (SPF), and the products should not be regarded as equivalent.

New architectural window film training and certification — 11 September 2026
Avery Dennison announced an installer training and certification program focused on solar-control and safety architectural window films. Its inaugural workshop was scheduled for 21–23 October 2026.
This is an industry example of installer skills development, not a certification for MKK® or its products.

EU Digital Product Passport registry becomes operational — 2026
According to the European Commission, the Digital Product Passport (DPP) Registry became operational on 20 July 2026. Türkiye's Ministry of Trade issued an announcement on 1 September 2026. The framework is intended to improve access to product information and traceability.
The Commission's indicative roadmap targets the adoption of product-specific rules for furniture in 2028. This does not mean that all furniture already requires a DPP in October 2026. Obligations depend on specific legal acts and transition periods.

Implications for the sector
These developments show the growing relevance of product selection, installer expertise, documentation and digital traceability. MKK® considers these themes in its development goals for TPU-based furniture SPF systems and digitally managed applications. No partnership with or endorsement by the cited companies is implied.
