MKK® Advances R&D for Next-Generation Furniture Surface Protection in the Architectural Wrapping Sector

MKK Teknoloji Kaplama Sistemleri Ticaret ve Sanayi Limited Şirketi is focusing on research and development of surface protection technologies designed to help preserve the appearance of furniture and support longer service life.

The company aims to develop TPU-based protective film systems suitable for selected furniture and interior surfaces.

Surface Protection Tailored to Furniture

Furniture is exposed to scratches, staining, abrasion and other everyday factors. Surface chemistry, existing finishes and use conditions must all be evaluated before selecting a protective system.

Potential application areas include natural wood furniture and tables, suitable lacquered and MDF surfaces, marble and natural stone tabletops, glass furniture, TV units, side tables and countertops.

Not all surfaces are suitable. Photos, substrate condition and controlled sample testing may be required before application.

Advanced Polymer R&D

Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films are a key area of the company's development approach. Research topics include mechanical properties, resistance to scratches and stains, adhesion on different substrates and the effect of film removal on the underlying surface.

Performance claims must be substantiated by appropriate laboratory methods, defined specimens and field trials.

AI-Assisted Digital Surface Assessment

MKK also aims to combine materials development with digital technologies. Proposed functions include photo-based preliminary surface assessment, technical decision support, material inventory tracking and digital installation records. Digital assessment does not replace on-site inspection or practical tests.

A Technology-Driven Future for Architectural Wrapping

For MKK®, architectural wrapping brings together materials science, surface engineering, product development and digital technology. The company is pursuing an evidence-based approach to product performance, technical validation and innovation.
