Continental Adds New skai Colours and Surface Designs

Continental announced additional colours and décors for its skai furniture films on 1 October 2026. The expanded range will be presented at SICAM in Pordenone, Italy, on 20–23 October.
The additions include walnut and oak looks, travertine and terrazzo designs, and further matte shades. SENSO and GEO receive “ocher” and “grayish” options. The announcement concerns design extensions to established product families.
A design reference for furniture and interiors
For architectural surfacing, the useful point is the opportunity to consider different finishes together. Wood effects, stone patterns and plain matte colours can be assessed as parts of a room rather than as isolated samples. Visual coordination and technical suitability nevertheless require separate decisions.
For furniture manufacturers and interior designers in Türkiye, the range offers a reference for project material boards. Physical samples should be assessed under the intended lighting and alongside adjacent materials before a specification is finalised. The relevant question is how a finish contributes to the whole interior.
MKK® Sector Assessment
From MKK®’s perspective, the announcement provides a prompt to consider appearance and texture together. A refurbishment brief should establish which qualities need to be retained: colour, matte appearance and tactile character are distinct considerations. Choosing a decorative finish and selecting a transparent protective layer should not be treated as a single decision.
A catalogue image is insufficient to establish compatibility with a protective film. MKK® considers technical documentation, the condition of the existing surface and pre-application compatibility assessment together. This article does not confirm that the announced skai options are suitable for MKK® applications.
MKK® does not apply films to edge-banded products because of swelling risk. The collection announcement does not change that policy. For projects in Türkiye, the practical approach is to use new designs as inspiration while evaluating the substrate and maintenance expectations separately.
