Safety First

SPF installation combines precision cutting, awkward posture, fluids and sometimes controlled heat. A small lapse can endanger both the installer and the customer’s property.

Knife discipline

Cut on a dedicated mat whenever possible. Direct the blade away from the body and supporting hand. A dull blade requires more force and can slip. Close the knife when it is not in use; never attempt to catch a falling knife. Place used blades in a closed sharps container.

Heat control

A heat gun is not a shortcut. Do not use it unless the exact product instruction requires it. Monitor surface temperature and remember that varnish, lacquer, solid wood and composites respond differently. Never hold heat on one point.

The work area

Dry floor water immediately.
Route power cables away from walkways.
Keep children and pets outside the work zone.
Stabilise furniture in a well-lit, accessible position.
Stop cutting when distracted by conversation or a phone.

Safety that protects the substrate

Do not freehand-cut on furniture. Isolate metal fittings, floors and adjacent walls with suitable protection. Photograph existing scratches and defects before work.

Stop and request help

Do not continue if the item is unstable, there is an electrical hazard, a chemical is unidentified or the cutting line cannot be seen clearly.
