The Edge Is the Signature

An installation may look good initially, yet a stretched corner or contaminated edge can lift later. A clean finish begins by reading geometry rather than forcing film with heat.

When film is pulled toward a corner, tension does not disappear; it accumulates at the weakest edge. Allow film to rest naturally, identify excess material and plan relief away from the finished surface.

Straight edges

Maintain a consistent allowance. Drive the squeegee from the interior toward the edge rather than along it. Remove all fluid and contamination beneath the edge and inspect with low-angle light.

Rounded corners

Do not overstretch tight radii. A decision to segment or overlap must follow the aesthetic requirement and product instruction. Heat is not an automatic solution; it may damage the substrate or temporarily hide tension.

Avoid

Forcing film around an edge
Correcting with a dull blade
Final squeegeeing with contaminated felt
Leaving liquid underneath hidden returns
Applying edge chemicals without product approval

Final inspection

Run a clean hand lightly over the edge, then use low-angle light to inspect lift, tension lines and uneven trimming. Correct questionable areas before handover.
