The Small-Area Test

A sample test answers more than “does it stick?” It evaluates colour and gloss change, adhesion, edge behaviour, cleaning residue and controlled removal together.

Selecting the test area

With customer approval, choose a discreet area made from the same material and finish as the main surface. An underside, rear edge or removable sample panel is suitable. A damaged or differently painted section produces misleading evidence.

Test steps

Photograph the area and record the substrate.
Clean according to the exact product instruction.
Install a small film piece using the planned method.
Inspect colour, gloss, texture, silvering and edges.
After the appropriate dwell period, perform controlled removal.
Check residue, coating movement and appearance change.
Record the result with photographs and notes.

Failure signs

Persistent haze, obvious colour change, excessively aggressive bond, coating movement, adhesive residue or repeated edge lift means failure. Do not hide the problem with more heat or pressure.

What the test does not prove

A small sample cannot guarantee years of use or every chemical exposure. It supports a site decision only for the examined substrate, product, method and conditions.
